Before founding IIZips.com, Devin James led an award-winning public engagement and communications firm for 15 years managing state-wide disease prevention and public health equity assignments for the government. James, a 2x cancer survivor himself, spearheaded a national campaign featuring A-list celebrities for the leading advocacy organization on colon and rectal cancers, Fight Colorectal Cancer.
Internationally recognized for his role as the senior community engagement strategist in Ferguson, Mo and for winning a settlement against his former client for defamation of character; James, authored the Best-seller, Inside Ferguson: A Voice for the Voiceless. The book and study guide are tools that help shed light on cultural disparities amongst ethnic groups as it relates to systemic discrimination.
After 2 years in the NorthWest consulting with cannabis entrepreneurs James was recruited to join the Missouri Cannabis Industry Association as the director of Minority Outreach and Investments and returned to the Midwest. He later stepped down after repeated efforts to include minorities’ in the planning stages of the legalization efforts were thwarted and went on to develop the minority investment fund that made IIZips possible.
